Heather Zimmerman's Story

In 2021 I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without my knees swelling. I could barely put my hair in a ponytail because my elbows were so swollen. I got down to 149 pounds. It was devastating.

I started meds and slowly eased back into Zumba doing about half of what I could previously do. I started to experiment with weights. I learned that my legs could handle things my arms couldn’t. With time I started RDL’s, leg presses, extensions, and curls. In time, I wanted to deadlift.

I stumbled into Primal Fitness and Cole made me feel safe enough to give this a try. With patience I made it work. I have setbacks and have to modify things. But I’m doing things I never dreamed I could do. I bulked up and then leaned out to 150 pounds. I look different than I did when I was at my weakest. I LOVE this gym. Our gym swag says, “Born to Conquer.” That’s not a clever slogan, that’s the gym culture. I’m beyond thankful because my life has been changed in ways I can’t express. If I can do this, you can too.
